532 W 25th St‘PROCESS_exhibition in progress’ is the first installment in a series of experimental exhibitions focusing on contemporary artists whose work is deeply affected by the craft and technique of their artistic process; moreover, how this work is becoming increasingly relevant in the plasticized and often detached world of contemporary art. Featuring new work by M.P Landis, Thom Lussier, Justin Romeo, and Michael Sanzone. The exhibition is curated by Kathryn Miriam.
This inaugural exhibition brings together the work of M.P Landis, Thom Lussier, Justin Romeo, and Michael Sanzone, each Artist distinctly different and accomplished, in order to explore both the completed works on view and the unique and integral process in which each work manifests.
Included will be three large ‘sculptural paintings’ by Michael Sanzone, made from wood that the Artist has been collecting from various sources including 19th century estates, farms, movie sets, and so on. Sanzone considers each piece of wood a work of art in its own right and uses each piece to create an abstract, yet systematic, labyrinth of color and texture, in which the wood pieces are both vital to the work, but also lost in the ‘puzzle.’
In addition, photography, painting, and drawings will be on view, and works will be available by artists who will be included in the next installment of this exhibition series, including Earl Holloway, Sean Mount, Dana Leigh Snyder, and Justin Teodoro.
