Collective Exhibition: Contemporary Art at its Best
An exhibition in four parts: The Persistence of Form, Elements of Structure, The Substance of Color, and The Compendium of Form
Agora Gallery's December exhibition resists winter's chill with a vibrant show of international works exploring the artistic cornerstones of structure, color and form. The artists
Lugo and Lee Pirozzi take art to the level of alchemy, creating fanciful forms from familiar objects and whimsical assemblages.
Tohru Aizawa adds a new magic to landscape painting, while Geraldine Simmons’ animal portraits present her subjects as highly emotional beings, both artists bringing a sense of wonder at the grandness of nature. The mastery of realism is evoked in the paintings of
Joseph Kim,
Sergey Ignatenko,
Elizabeth Punches,
Paul Skurski and
Robert van Beurden. Through impressionist strokes,
C.G. Rodsant contributes an air of shimmering fantasy, while
Graham Denison takes a crisper look at the fantastic in the real.
Daniela Vasileva delivers her subjects with crisp energy, in a color-rich presentation of figurative depiction.
Creating art at its most dramatic, moving and incisive, the artists Bezio,
Nella Lush, and
Waleed Rasheed Qaisi all work with earthy colors in their investigation of the dialogue between color and line; the results are works both inspired and highly personal. The variables of ecstatic moods are explored by
Lionel Bedos,
MG deButts,
KC Lockrem,
Kerin McBride, and
Fiona Viney, who use color in ways that, despite the differences in style, share a confident and liberating palette.
Veronika Doljenkova,
Nataša Menart and
Leopoldine Van Daalen interpret form according to their own unique visions, which vary from powerful abstracts to melancholy surrealism.
Agora Gallery has brought these varied artists together to reflect on the foundations of the visual arts, and each individual's interpretation and struggle with their vision.
