Buddhism and Beyond works by Greg Cohen and Peter Guttman

This color photography show is a compilation of Greg Cohen and Peter Guttman's work as a result of living within specific cultures in South East Asia and India. This show focuses specifically on young Buddhist monks and their lifestyle.

Greg Cohen originally from the East Coast, and now living in Los Angeles, creates most of his images while living within the culture he is studying. He first picked up the camera in Tennessee in 1993, while living in the Smoky Mountain region. Cohen has lived throughout the United States shooting along the way. Now more focused on a global scale, he is currently developing projects in central Africa and Southeast Asia.

There is a humanness to Cohen's imagery, connecting diverse people through their undeniable similarities; exploring the strange and familiar simultaneously. His work finds truth, humor, and pathos in the experiences of his subjects and the landscapes that surround them.

Peter Guttman is an award-winning photographer with a richly textured career. The recipient of the Gold Medal Lowell Thomas Award for Travel Journalist of the Year, he is a photographer, writer, author, television personality, and lecturer who has traveled on assignment to all seven continents and to more than 190 countries. His fine art photography has been exhibited internationally in acclaimed solo shows, Guttman photography has been published in books, magazines, and newspapers, and has appeared in virtually every major travel periodical including Conde Nast Traveler, Geo, and National Geographic Publications. Guttman illustrated calendars for clients as diverse as American Express and Calvin Klein, where he provided all the images in its first-ever travel campaign for the aptly named scent "Escape." Guttman's work has been featured as a finalist in the prestigious Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for Magazine Photography in 2000 for an extensive multi-page spread in Life Magazine. He taught a popular travel photography class at the International Center of Photography, was chosen as a national spokesperson for Kodak, and created a highly-acclaimed hardcover photographic book series for Fodor's Travel Publications. Guttman's distinguished accomplishments have been profiled on A&E, National Public Radio and the Today show.
