The Life, Psyche and Egos of Stone
February 5, 2008- March 1, 2008
Reception: February 9, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
530 W 25th St
The
Amos Eno Gallery is pleased to present an installation of new work by
Jose-Ricardo Presman. This show will be on view February 5 to March 1, 2008. A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on February 9, from 5-7 pm. The exhibit consists of a series of lights along the periphery and reflective surfaces at the center and periphery of the gallery. The title is an integral part of the exhibit ant invites the viewer to form a connection between it and the rest of the imagery.
Presman’s work arises from his constant research and investigations into esoteric science, a perspective of science whose conclusions verify those of natural science and go beyond it to frequently include diametrically opposed complementary results. The show excludes the physical presence of stones or of there imagery, since the subject of the installation involves properties not visible to the naked eye. The properties of life, feelings, intellect, will and individuality in stones only exist with the development of imaginative, inspired and intuitive cognition, whose development has not matured to the required level for our times. Instead, the views appropriate for mid 19th century culture have been allowed to proliferate, leading us to many of the issues that trouble us today.
Jose-Ricardo Presman has had numerous solo exhibitions in New York and has been exhibiting in the U.S. and Canada since 1974.
