Reception: November 30, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
526 W 26th St
Between 1995 and 2004
Idit Greenberg traveled through the Italian provinces and found that the countryside functioned exceptionally well as both guide and metaphor for her own photographic interests. The result, Eternita, is a series about the psychological space that exists between Greenberg and her subjects, one that is underscored by the physical relationship to the subject and the unique development processes she employs. While not all of the photographs include figures, nearly all of the images suggest the lives of people. Whether photographing a lone horse or a quiet street, Greenberg is making a kind of portrait of a place - one that contributes to a feeling of being lost in a memory or dream.
Idit Greenberg teaches photography at The Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. She attended the Ipotesi Cinema School in Bassano di Grappa, Italy, where she worked with the director Ermando Olmi. Also a former fashion photographer, Greenberg's photography has appeared in leading European fashion magazines such as Donna, Mondo Uomo, Vogue Sposa and Vogue Uomo. The artist's fine art photography is included in the permanent collections of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and the Naggar Fund, London.
