547 W 27th StARTGATE GALLERY is pleased to announce "Have a Dream", a collective photography exhibition of five photographers from Korea, Kim Hae Kwon, Seo Dong Sin, Song Yi, Lim Jong Jin and Heo Ik.
The five artists' works share the universal dreams that we, as human beings, all share, each in their individualistic andunique way. Artist Kim Hae Kwon's images of palms and skin remind us that experiences in life leave us with scars and marks, depicting the idea of time and the never-ending story of life and relationships. Artist Seo Dong Sin combines beauty and melancholy of life in his work. Like a photojournalist, Artist Lim Jong Jin's works are ordinary citizens in North Korea, allowing us to have a glimpse at one of the world's most closed society. He captures their lives with a different approach, and vividly portrays the happiness that is seemingly inexistent in North Korea. And Heo Ik, a musician who became a photographer, capture images of different landscape in vibrant colors from his travels, reminding us the beauty and musical rhythm of natural beauty. At last, artist Song Yi's close up images give us stillness and calmness in the midst of a chaotic world, and at the same time, reminding us the idea of existence and eternity, a dream all of us cling on to.
The five artists' collective works are slices of life in the midst of their journeys, finding beauty, hopes and dreams in our time. Through this exhibition, we hope to share these dreams with New York City and the world, bringing these universal themes to all human beings.
