will discuss CATASTROPHE as it applies to our lives today. They
will suggest how we have created the current instability, offer some
practical advice on what we can do now, and even how- if we all pull
together-we can divert the disasters ahead. Knowledge is power, so

SHARON ASTYK is a subsistence farmer and author whose blog
Casaubon’s Book focuses on what is achievable for ordinary people, with
ordinary skills and ordinary budgets to reduce our dependency on fossil
fuels, help mitigate global warming, establish local food systems to create
a life of abundance, even in the face of depletion.

COLIN BEAVAN is a writer, blogger extraordinaire. He is the creator of
The No Impact Man Project about living a green, sustainable life in New
York City. Since early 2007, his weekday posts have helped Americans
reconsider their cultural priorities and consumptive habits and their effect
on both planet and human happiness.

MICHAEL HOGAN is an author, screenwriter, painter, former lawyer
and Jesuit seminarian. His work often depicts the pathology and decay
inherent in organized religion and the legal system and their effects on the
individual. His new novel Burial of the Dead” will be released by St.
Martin’s in August. Hogan is currently writing a non-fiction book about
Hollywood’s perverse effect on the legal system and society.
JAMES HOWARD KUNSTLER is an author, painter, and social critic.
Non-fiction works like "The Geography of Nowhere," and "The Long
Emergency," discuss the demise of America’s cities and places, and the
huge economic, social, and spiritual costs that America is paying for its
car-crazed lifestyle. Kunstler’s new post-oil-age novel, "World Made By
Hand”, is the story of the Long Emergency set in upstate New York in the
not too distant future.
