Hollis Dunlap presents new works of the figure and landscape.
Hollis Dunlap began painting the figure from the onset of his artistic life. From the young age of fourteen, his eyes lay open to the possibility of expression and imagination that drawing allowed. Inspired by Renaissance masters, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, Dunlap remarks that it was through, “the sheer emotional depth of the work that I realized the beauty of the human figure and that the possibilities for creation with the human form are endless. I find the colors and forms of peoples’ faces beautiful, regardless of their gender, age, physical appearance, etc. That said I want to emphasize that each painting goes through many stages before completion. To get a good likeness the figure cannot be copied, it has to be understood from within.”
