Anna Held Audette's exhibition, Contemporary Ruins, will be on view at he
Blue Mountain Gallery from June 20 to July 8. This collection of paintings continues
Anna Held Audette's longtime interest in the ruins of our times, the relics of America's industrial glory at mid century. As a painter she has been inspired by the endless examples in which the triumphs of industry turn out to be just a moment away from obsolescence, casualties of our rapid technological evolution.
Tracey O'Shaughnessy wrote in Waterbury Republican-American that
Anna Held Audette's "gorgeous treatment of industrial sights and machinery...evoke a robust power even as they hint at a hopeless hubris. Audette sees a beauty in their complexity, an elegant logic to their design. They are cathedrals to capitalism and ingenuity."
Audette has recently exhibited at the National Academy of Design (Washington, DC), The Paul Mellon Arts Center Gallery (Wallingford, CT) and the Fenn Gallery (Woodbury, CT).
