Watery places are the subject of
Marjorie Auerbach’s new paintings at the
Blue Mountain Gallery. One group of works is inspired by the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and another reflects her many summers spent on Fire Island. The Australian pictures depict snorkelers, coral reefs and colorful fish; the Fire Island paintings are of children at the water’s edge and running to and retreating from the big Atlantic waves. Auerbach is exploring the playfulness of the figures by combining and recombining them in different ways and using both natural and in-vented color.
This is her second solo show at
Blue Mountain Gallery. She studied at the New York Studio School and Queens College.
