The
Brenda Taylor Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition by
Glenn Fischer, featuring his series “Common Ground.” Fischer employs a sophisticated collage process of layering designed to have a cumulative effect on the viewer. He uses found materials such as vintage books, magazines, and wallpaper samples collected during his travels in the United States and Europe.
Fischer offers a visual dialog through his works, filled with images and text that connects one’s past with one’s present life. His work focuses on the convergence between our conscious and subconscious thought. He uses imagery in the narrative of his pieces which are “common ground” to everyone. Ultimately, Fischer's work is about defining that very point when the subconscious has risen into your consciousness. It is at this point the true test emerges; do any of us have enough strength to bear the full weight of our own personal truths when we become conscious of them?
Fischer holds a Masters degree from New York University and a BA in Fine Arts from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA. He has exhibited in both solo and group shows around the country, including New York and also internationally. This is his first solo show with the
Brenda Taylor Gallery.
