Casas Riegner Gallery opened in May of 2001, in the Miami Design District, with a site-specific installation by the prolific Colombian artist Ana Mercedes Hoyos. Since then, the gallery has curated several group exhibitions of pioneering artists, like ”Deluxe,” an exhibition featuring five conceptual and video artists from Spain and Latin America. The gallery has organized group shows that integrate artists such as Matilde Marín and Maria Fernanda Cardoso with up and coming artists like Pedro Ruíz and Carlos Blanco.
In August 2004 Casas Riegner closed its Miami space but continues operating privately from New York City. In January 2005 , the gallery opened a new space in Bogota, Colombia which will continue with the commitment of Casas Riegner of creating dialogues between established artists and emerging artists, thus helping to strengthen a critical discourse among those working internationally and at the same time introducing emerging artists to local and international audiences.
Casas Riegner Gallery’s 2005 program includes exhibitions by Liliana Porter, Luis Fernando Roldan, Humberto Junca, Danilo Duenas and Luis Luna.
