Nena St.Louis

Ceres Gallery

547 W 27th St
When I was eight, a persistent voice so loud and strong that I named her Susan, my middle name, began lurking in my consciousness. We never agreed on any issue and animosity grew between us. As I grew older, she remained a childish voice, taunting me in that way children taunt each other. However, as I grew older, I became more and more aware of other voices, many voices, ancient voices—voices form the history of us all that teach the lessons of past lives. Some of those past lives were well-lived, others not so well-lived. All of the lessons are valuable. I identify so strongly with those ancient voices that I envision them as countless women marching through history toward infinity, always learning and teaching.
