Beth B., Daniella Dooling, Tom Sanford, Gae Savannah, Joan Semmel

Chelsea Art Museum

556 W 22nd St
In connection with the exhibition Dangerous Beauty, the Chelsea Art Museum will hold a symposium to discuss many of the issues raised by our society’s ideal of beauty: impossibly thin, perfect, young and younger. The panelists will discuss, from their particular perspectives, the effect of living in the shadow of such images of beauty that, without manipulation, may have no human incarnation; images that are deliberately designed to stir up feelings of inadequacy and self doubt.

PANELISTS INCLUDE: Beth B. - artist Daniella Dooling - artist Elizabeth Haase, M.D. - psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Tom Sanford - artist Gae Savannah - artist and writer Joan Semmel - artist Barbara de Vries - former model, fashion designer and writer Manon Slome - exhibition curator, Moderator

ADMISSION: Free with Museum admission.
