Don't Kiss Me: The Art of Claude Cahun & Marcel Moore
May 9, 2007- July 25, 2007
556 W 22nd St
Claude Cahun was a French photographer who explored notions of gender, sexuality and identity. Working at the time of the Surrealists, her publicly constructed identity (which she assumed through taking on a deliberately androgynous name) was a reflection of ambivalence to stereotypes of femininity and masculinity. Cahun and Moore were a couple who lived an worked together for over forty years.
