Liu Yonggang and his new series of work entitled, Spatial Fluidity: Exploring Calligraphy.
Liu Yonggang represents a rare type of contemporary artist fusing old world traditions with modern ideologies. Hailing from Inner Mongolia, his work is imbued with a sense of beauty and “naturalness” that is hard to find in the emerging scene of contemporary art in Asia. His collection of three- dimensional calligraphy represents the richness of a culture, while the bending shapes brings a spin of unconventional perception.
Hailing a master’s degree from the Nuremburg College of Fine Arts in Germany and winner of the Merit Prize at the 1st Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition,
Liu Yonggang has spent most of his life pursuing the philosophy behind art, searching for a deeper meaning in the creation of his sculpture and oil paintings. Having once been one of China’s most promising new artists with his mystical work entitled, The Shepherd Girl of North Sala, Yonggang returns with his triumphant representation of Chinese Calligraphy.
