The
Christopher Henry Gallery is pleased to announce Fictions, our first exhibition of paintings by
Lynton Wells.
Powered by an original technique these elegant light filled spaces entertain an unusual cast of characters. Women, Putti, Punctuation, Fish, Devils and Electrified Trees are among the players in a visual pulsation, mediated by the weave of the canvas. The resulting style is taut, efficient and unique. With titles such as Sinner’s Crossroads and What Happened to Good and Evil?, this show signals a different attitude and demonstrates new and dynamic possibilities for the future of pictures.
Wells' work can be found in such collections as the MOMA, New York; SFMOMA, San Francisco; Dallas Museum of Fine Art, TX; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, NY; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. His work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, and has been written about by critics Dave Hickey and Michael Duncan.
