Join us as we celebrate our first solo exhibition of New York-based contemporary
artist
Jesse McCloskey. In The Beast in the Beauty, McCloskey explores the dark
narratives of the subconscious. The dreamlike landscapes, full of disturbing,
sexually charged images, are reminiscent of the Surrealists. Multifarious and
darkly perverse, the works possess a mythical, almost allegorical quality. Suggestion
and allusion paint a dark poetic vision where scissors, sharp teeth, and empty
liquor bottles tell a disorienting tale of psychic transformation that leaves the
viewer wondering which is the monster, where is the monster, and who fears who?
