Billy Malone 2007
October 11, 2007 - November 24, 2007
Reception: October 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
623 W 27th St
For this exhibition,
Billy Malone will present a series of meticulously rendered ballpoint pen drawings depicting wooden structures whose forms recall modern minimalist sculpture and architecture. Anthropomorphous in shape, Malone’s structures frequently contain an array of accoutrements including surveillance cameras, rope, skulls and bungee cords as well as plants, insects, and animals. Rooted in the still-life and allegorical traditions (from Northern Renaissance to French Surrealism), Malone’s imagery is both personal and contemporary.
This will be
Billy Malone’s second solo exhibition at Clementine. His work was recently featured in Twice Drawn at the Tang Museum and Salon Nouveau at Engholm Engelhorn Gallery in Vienna.
