Onesimus and the Clock of Birds
November 29, 2007 - January 5, 2008
Reception: November 29, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
623 W 27th St
In the North Gallery,
Lawrence Lee will present new drawings on paper. For this exhibition, Lee takes inspiration from the human fascination with time and how it governs our lives and the custom of the Kaluli tribe of New Guinea. Focusing on a narrative of protagonist Onesimus and his adventures with Lucinda, Lee imaginatively incorporates these two characters into the “clock of birds”. These fanciful graphite, ink, and tea-stained drawings not only stand on their own but also enhance the ongoing story of Lee’s narrative.
Recently,
Lawrence Lee participated Clementine’s group show The Lizard Cult. This is his first solo exhibition in New York.
