New York at Night
January 18, 2007- March 3, 2007
210 11th Ave
DFN Gallery is pleased to present NEW YORK AT NIGHT, an exhibition featuring paintings and drawings by 30 established contemporary artists.
New York stands out among cities in many ways, but perhaps in no way more than by its sustained vitality throughout the night. When most cities call it quits for the day, New York reawakens. NEW YORK AT NIGHT includes new work by
DFN Gallery artists and selections from some special guests, which capture the activity and energy of our city after dark.
NEW YORK AT NIGHT features three generations of artists, and includes a wide range of approaches and styles:
Susan Grossman’s large-scale charcoal street scene and the paintings by
David Shevlino and
Dan Witz are derived from photographs taken while roaming the New York streets;
Olive Ayhens,
Tom Birkner, and
Chuck Connelly painted imagined scenes fusing fantasy and experience;
Jacqueline Gourevitch’s watercolors, an oil study by
Alex Katz, and the painting by
Pamela Talese were each done on site.
