Denise Bibro Fine Art, 529 West 20th Street, 4th Floor, Chelsea New York is pleased to announce, Linda Lippa’s second solo exhibition at the gallery from February 2 – March 4, 2006.
We are pleased to host this, the second solo exhibition of artist Linda Lippa. This exhibition of her most recent paintings runs concurrently with “An American Survey”, at the Museo de Arte Acarigua-Araure in Araure Estado Portuguesa, Venezuela, The works exhibited at the museum depict Lippa’s interpretation of events and ordinary circumstance of American Life.
Linda Lippa’s figure-based narrative and still life paintings successfully, “seize the timeless truth in a passing moment,” according to the artist. Lippa’s paintings encapsulate the spirit of contemporary life. Her strong, boldly colored paintings and unusually descriptive compositions emote human drama. Deftly utilizing her eyes and the eyes of the camera, she edits and abstracts from our sensory overloaded urban environment a moment of time, chance, opportunity and experience. Her photographs are a starting point rather than a destination for her paintings. The fleeting moments she captures become both metaphor and narrative. Through the selection of detail she reveals distinct characters and captures a broad spectrum of everyday life.
Lippa has had numerous solo and group exhibitions to her credit. In recent years she had solo exhibitions at the Gallery Galou, Brooklyn, NY, The Edward Williams Gallery, Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ, John Harms Center for the Arts, Englewood, NJ, Gallery on the Vineyard, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Gallery Magritte, Tucson, AZ. Some o the selected group exhibitions she has been chosen to participate are Traveling the Carolinas, Nat’l Assoc. of Women Artists, Bergen Museum o Art & Sciences, Paramus, NJ, Cambridge Art Assoc.,Cambridge, MA., Belskie Museum, Closter, NJ, Walker Kornbluth Gallery, Fairlawn, NJ, Cornell Museum, Del Rey, Fl.
