summer hours

Reception: June 8, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

DINTER FINE ART is pleased to present a summer group exhibition entitled "summer hours". As the season closer, and as a prelude to taking a break before the new season, the summer group show provides an opportunity to explore various ideas in an informal manner.
Light and airy as a breeze on a hot afternoon—with curtains aflutter in half-open windows, a hard daybed on the porch or a deep hammock under the trees, thunder rumbling in the distance, insects trilling nearby—summer memories are evoked. It's a perfect time for dozing, the mind drifting and shifting along paths of reverie, unrestrained and fluid; the imagination conjures scenarios, recounts experiences, concocts narratives of longing and desire—the summer afternoon passes like a dream.
From
Brett Bell's staged visions, to
Michael Byron's seemingly random juxtapositions of disparate elements, to
Daina Higgins's and
Lucas Reiner's independent examinations of the remarkable survival instincts of urban flora, to
Elliott Levine's fabulous three-dimensional flights of fancy, the muse of summertime casts her net.
BRETT BELL will be the featured artist of
Dinter Fine Art at the "scopeHamptons" art fair July 13—16 in East Hampton, New York; MICHAEL BYRON is Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor of Art at Washington University School of Art, St. Louis, Missouri; DAINA HIGGINS recently had a solo exhibition at the Elizabeth Harris Gallery, New York, and is also represented by the Rebecca Ibel Gallery, Columbus, Ohio; ELLIOTT LEVINE will be an artist-in-residence this summer at, among other places, the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire; LUCAS REINER lives and works in Los Angeles, his hometown.
