With 2500 projects realized,
Karim Rashid is a figurehead of the design world. Karim is a designer in love with the world's diversity and inspired by all cultures - which gave birth to his philosophy of democratic design; the idea of bringing design to the masses. Karim's affinity for organic shapes and with it plastic - a material that he loves for its brilliancy, fluency and energy - gave him the nickname Poet of Plastic.
"Designers such as myself have taken an interest in organic form and the technology that affords us to morph, undulate, twist, torque, blend our concepts. Polymers, such as synthetic rubbers, santoprenes, evoprenes, ployolifens, silicons, with translucencies and transparencies contribute to this new softness of our products."
The series Bloblove with sculptures and prints reflects the borderline between art and design. The artist's observations, captured and transformed into colorful, poetic and symbolic images, form a perfect world of the future.
"Sensualism + Minimalism = Bloblove. Bloblove is a never-ending, futurist voyage of lust and sex. Twisting shapes flow through kinetic, colorful landscapes. Like simple life forms, these amorphic shapes exist to connect, swirl, and multiply. In the future we will all exist in these landscapes soft and free from restraint. Bloblove is a view of our simpler, more beautiful selves. "
