The
Elizabeth Harris Gallery is pleased to present neoplastic redux a summer group exhibition. It is well known that early in the twentieth century the term neoplasticism, as coined by Mondrian and De Stijl, was a philosophy of how art should be created.
“Art should not concern itself with reproducing images of real objects, but only express the universal absolutes that underlie reality.” Piet Mondrian
The repercussions of neoplasticism have been widespread, affecting not only art but design and architecture as well. One only has to look around to see its imprint in today's world. Almost as soon as it was created it began to evolve. This evolution continues today. neoplastic redux is a looking back at just some of the artists that more or less deal with its legacy.
