540 W 21st StOn Thursday, March 20-the date of the U.S. invasion of Iraq-media artist Joseph DeLappe will enact dead-in-Iraq, his protest and memorial work set within the Department of Defense's online game, America's Army live at Eyebeam in Chelsea.
Using the login name "dead-in-Iraq," DeLappe enters the multiplayer game as a player and, forgoing fighting, uses the game's text messaging system to type the names of the U.S. military members killed in Iraq.
The live performance will include sound and large-scale projection and is free and open to the public.
The performance will be followed by a discussion with the artist, and artist and curator Mark Tribe.
