The Fischbach Gallery is pleased to present "ATMOSPHERES, Recent Paintings" by Willard Dixon opening 12 October and continuing through November 2005. There will be a reception for the artist on Wednesday, October 12th, from 5pm to 7pm.
"When you come to know a place well it gets inside you and enters your art quietly and naturally in certain ways without your awareness. I know the light, the skies, the water, the hills, grasses, trees and animals of nothern California so well, they are my skies and hills, as my face are my own." Willard Dixon
The works of Willard Dixon evoke feelings of air and light capturing a vista or time of day that gives one pause; like the passing of the day. These ethereal views remind us of places we've been or would like to be when dawn or dusk tranforms landscapes from ordinary to atmospheric.
Willard Dixon was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1942. He attended the Art Students League, Cornell University, and The Brooklyn Museum School before receiving his M.F.A. in 1969 from San Francisco Arts Institute. He currently resides in Marin County. This is Dixon's ninth exhibition at Fischbach Gallery.
