“Perhaps a classic is a work that one imagines should be common knowledge, but more and more often isn’t.” W.S. Merwin, Lost Classics

The Chelsea Classic presents a selection of paintings celebrating the essence of “classic” in art from the varied perspectives of the Fischbach Gallery Artists. Displaying contemporary American representational artists, the exhibit offers works representing the most quintessential piece in style, color, and composition of each of the Fischbach Gallery Artists. Whether a vivid landscape, a lush atmosphere, or an alluring still life, each work of art represents the artist’s highest quality painting and/or drawing. Ultimately each piece of art evokes a timeless sense of immortality illustrating the works enduring value, and because each piece is a true “classic,” it never will finish what is has to say.
