532 W 24th St"Hollow" is composed of the vision of three Mexican artists of different generations.
Germán Venegas, formerly one of the members of the "Neo-Mexican" movement, is now entirely focused on exploring the spiritual side of painting. In contrast, José Luis Sánchez Rull's almost "baroque" artistic language is permeated with haunting images from diverse sources such as popular culture and art history. Jorge Castellano's young vision explores, in an almost schizophrenic manner, the power of contemporary media and its relation to tribal behavior and secret societies.
All three artists comment on the concept of emptiness in their own, different manner, but at the same time, manage to convey a common, very strong spiritual content, as well as a certain pictorial and narrative unity. Jorge Castellanos (b. 1982, Mexico City) has just completed his first solo exhibition, Capitán Yucud Zaa at Galeria La Esmeralda in Mexico City's Centro Nacional de las Artes. José Luis Sánchez Rull (b. 1964, Mexico City), has shown his work in exhibitions throughout Mexico and most recently participated in a group exhibition at the Museo Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. Germán Venegas (b. 1959, Mexico City) an established artist, has exhibited extensively throughout Mexico and Europe since the early 1980's. His most recent solo exhibition was held in the Museo de la Secretaria de Hacienda at the Antiguo Palacio del Arzobispado entitled, "Elucubraciones".
