Eric Zener’s recent paintings will be exhibited at
Gallery Henoch from April 12th – May 5th, 2007. A reception for the artist will be held on Thursday, April 12th from 6-8pm.
In his newest work, Zener continues to use the natural world as a metaphor for dramatic moments of personal decision and change. His waterscapes provide rich backdrops for his human figures, whose contemplative moods are reflected by the glimmering surface of the water. Pursuing moments of insight and revelation, his divers must move through the water towards greater understanding and awareness.
“The subjects in my paintings are voyagers and seekers of truth,” says Zener. “Free from the obligations of daily life, the quiet landscape of a body of water provides both a literal and psychological place of discovery and confession.”
With great style and attention to form, Zener depicts the human figure in solitary reflection; suspended between the moments of immersion and surfacing, his divers capture the essence of transformation and an individual’s quest for meaning.
