Reception: March 15, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
555 W 25th St
John Evans will exhibit his new paintings at
Gallery Henoch from March 15 to April 7, 2007. A reception for the artist will be held on Thursday, March 15 from 6-8 pm.
Vast expanses of land, ocean and sky are the subject of
John Evans’ fourth solo show at
Gallery Henoch. The images are inspired by the coastlines of Cape Cod, the North Shore of Massachusetts and, periodically, the fields of central France. Throughout his career, the Boston-based painter has cultivated a distinctive visual energy by fusing classical form and sweeping gestures of paint.
Evans was born in 1945. He studied at Boston University with Philip Guston and James Weeks. Evans is included in the public collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; the Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, MA and the Houston Museum of Fine Art, TX, among others.
