Matt Jacobs, Joe Borzotta, and Ke-Sook Lee
April 10, 2007- May 5, 2007
511 W 25th St
Matt Jacobs presents a collection of richly painted forests and gardens. A bold color palette and kaleidoscopic arrangement characterize his imagery
Ke-Sook Lee's installation, "One Hundred Faceless Women," is inspired by personal memories and experiences, yet comments on universal issues of domesticity and feminism. The work, which features one hundred embroidered handkerchiefs hung on lines through the gallery, was inspired by the artist's memory of hanging laundry on a clothesline. Each vintage handkerchief is embroidered or crocheted with symbols from Lee's life
Joe Borzotta's former occupation as a bar-owner inspired his current series of paintings. Each piece depicts a different cocktail on a solid, brightly-colored background. The series references pop-art in its bold hues and repetitive imagery.
