It’s Almost Real, Isn’t It?
January 11, 2007- February 10, 2007
Reception: January 11, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
529 W 20th St
ART&IDEA presents two simultaneous solo exhibitions, I’m Gonna Change the World: Paulina Lasa (curated by Claudia Arozqueta) and It’s Almost Real, Isn’t It?:
Alex Dorfsman. This will be the first solo exhibition in New York City for Paulina Lasa and
Alex Dorfsman, both natives of Mexico City.
An exhibition of
Alex Dorfsman’s photographs will be presented in the small gallery. Dorfsman’s classically composed images of natural simulacra comprise his ongoing project, It’s Almost Real, Isn’t It? The artist pairs real landscapes with their representations—as in his photograph of a palm tree sprouting in front of a wall mural of palm trees—in order to question the viewer’s perception. A catalogue of Dorfsman’s photographs published by Diamantina will accompany the exhibition.
In 2006
Alex Dorfsman exhibited a solo project at the prestigious Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros in Mexico City. He has also exhibited in venues throughout North America and Europe.
