International Print Center New York announces the presentation of New Editions/Scotland, a group show of contemporary prints from four leading Scottish workshops. New Editions/Scotland will be on view from March 9-April 22, 2006, in IPCNY's gallery at 526 West 26th Street in Chelsea, Room 824.

The 2005/06 season marks IPCNY's 5th Anniversary of exhibitions and programming celebrating the fine art print.

New Editions/Scotland is being organized by International Print Center New York in collaboration with John Mackechnie, Director of the Glasgow Print Studio and a founder of the newly formed CELscotland, Contemporary Editions Limited, a consortium of the Glasgow Print Studio, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Edinburgh Printmakers and Peacock Visual Arts of Aberdeen.

The Scottish Arts Council has provided funding for the Exhibition.

The Exhibition will be on view during Tartan Week with an evening reception on Wednesday, April 5th, 6-8 p.m. Richard Holloway, Chairman of the Scottish Arts Council, will speak at 6:30. John Mackechnie of the Glasgow Print Studio and David Watt, Director of Edinburgh Printmakers, will also be present to answer questions about the unique cluster of publicly funded print studios that operate today in Scotland.

New Editions/Scotland is the first major presentation of contemporary Scottish prints and artists' books in New York City in nearly twenty years. It is the first showing in the United States of the graphic work of many of these artists. An illustrated brochure with a curatorial essay by Mr. Mackechnie will accompany the Exhibition.

New Editions/Scotland includes more than forty works including two print portfolios and three artists' books by some thirty artists in various mediums of printmaking including etching, mezzotint, photo-etching, woodcut, screenprint and lithography.

Dating from 1998 through 2005, the work represents significant trends in contemporary Scottish art. New Editions/Scotland also serves as documentation of the continuing tradition of a long and distinguished history of fine art printmaking in Scotland.

The complete artists' list for New Editions/Scotland is as follows: Elizabeth Blackadder, Clare Barclay, Christine Borland, Martin Boyce, John Byrne, Scott Campbell, Steven Campbell, Ken Currie, Alan Davie, Katy Dove, Stuart Duffin, Mateusz Fahrenholz, Moyna Flannigan, Jo Ganter, Callum Innes, John Mackechnie, Norman Mathieson, Will Maw, Bruce McLean, Abigail McLellan, Jacqueline Moon, Toby Paterson, Robert Paul, Jila Peacock, Philip Reeves, Ray Richardson, Murray Robertson, Dave Sherry, Alan Shipway, Ross Sinclair, Graeme Todd, Adrian Wiszniewski, and Richard Wright.

The participating workshops, from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen, are four of a large network of non-profit, open-access, artist-run print studios that now exist across Scotland. The presentation of a rich and varied selection of work from these shops is a major visual arts component of Tartan Week, being celebrated in venues across New York City from April 2nd-9th.

Talisker Distillery and Scottish Gourmet USA are contributing to IPCNY's Reception on April 5th.

A related exhibition of contemporary Scottish prints will be on view this spring, beginning March 31st, at the Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For further information about this exhibition, visit www.highpointprintmaking.org
