526 W 26th StInternational Print Center New York announces its 24th presentation of the New Prints Program. Consisting of 36 prints by 35 emerging to established artists, SILKSCREENS - New Prints 2007, illustrates the wide variety of work being made by artists today in the medium of silkscreen. The exhibition will be on view from June 29th through August 3rd in IPCNY's gallery at 526 West 26th Street, Room 824, between 10th and 11th Avenues in Chelsea.
SILKSCREENS - New Prints 2007 is one of a series of juried exhibitions organized by IPCNY four times each season featuring current prints made by artists at all stages of their careers. With this exhibition, IPCNY continues its presentations of contemporary artists' prints, creating an ongoing exhibition venue for new work and a central source of information about artists working in the medium of printmaking.
The Selections Committee for the exhibition was composed of: Richard Anderman, collector; Donald Baechler, artist; Venetia Kapernekas, gallerist; Jean-Yves Noblet, master printer; Nadine Orenstein, Curator, Department of Drawings and Prints, Metropolitan Museum of Art; Yasha Wallin, Co-Director, Freight + Volume gallery, who will be contributing the exhibition essay.
Highlights of the exhibition include: prints by Glen Baldridge and Björn Copeland published by Forth Estate in Brooklyn, a brand new entity founded to publish prints by cutting edge artists; an eight-foot wide mural-sized print by Beatriz Milhazes from Durham Press in Pennsylvania; a site-specific installation by Wisconsin artist Jonathan Hitchcock; a print from Gemini G.E.L's recent silkscreen series by John Baldessari; and several three-dimensional pieces including Aaron Wilson's surreal furniture and objects entitled F-15, F-150.

With rare exceptions, prints included in IPCNY's New Prints shows are for sale. IPCNY refers potential purchasers directly to the artist, publisher or gallery supplying the print. IPCNY requires no commission on sales.
International Print Center New York is a non-profit institution founded to promote the greater appreciation and understanding of the fine art print worldwide. Through innovative programming, it fosters a climate for the enjoyment, examination and serious study of artists' prints - from the old master to the contemporary. IPCNY offers its members a program of workshop and gallery visits, and has established an informational website and Information Desk available to the public at the gallery. IPCNY depends upon public and private donations to support its programs.
The New Prints Program is funded in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and The Greenwall Foundation.
