Gary Godbee 2006
February 2, 2006- February 28, 2006

Gary Godbee is among the most gifted landscape artists at work today. His work is an act of sharing. He uses paint to capture his vision of the world and share that world with us – a world replete with the scars and incursions humans have made upon it. Godbee has a unique ability to find beauty in a landscape dominated by a rusty water tower or the visual poetry of a stoplight hanging over an intersection. In Godbees’ work something as purely functional as a railroad bridge seems to take on a quiet dignity and become an almost inherent element of the natural world around it.
Gary Godbee has a way of finding a truth that already existed and transferring that truth to canvas so that the rest of us can see it.
