Jim Kempner Fine Art is pleased to announce its fifth solo exhibition of recent paintings by
Greg Parker. Parker’s paintings, created with multiple layers of oil, graphite and pigment on gesso wood panel, have the tactile, physical presence of smooth sculpture. The delicately etched and controlled lines, rooted in geometric abstraction, play against shifting tones to reveal a seductive luminosity and power. His works on paper, in turn, work with more radical tonal variations on a smaller scale to create a fresh take on the formation of depth. His newest work incorporates an emphatic use of white, which is juxtaposed with panes of rich, luxurious color to create striking contrast and stunning visual impact.
Greg Parker, with an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, works and lives in Maine. His work is represented in the collections of The Portland Museum of Art, Fidelity Investments, Boston, The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, the Ritz Carlton International, Boston, and The British Museum in London.
