Perfect Circle
At the northernmost tip of the lake, there existed a village which could be
reached for a millennium only by a boat.
Shortly before I was born, one road reached the village.
It was as though someone had drawn a road on a map while I was asleep.
Three years ago, I set out on a journey to the very village once again,
Happening to hear that the thousand-year-old boat was to vanish.
I took along one companion, an Ikebana artist.
He was an exceptional person who witnessed souls of flowers in his daily
life.
We proceeded further on the lake,
Trusting ability of the palms of our hands and of our eyes.
The boat had already been set free.
One history was about to reach its conclusion.
On one upcoming night,
A full moon was seen to emit its light in sheer darkness.
