Kinz, Tillou + Feigen is pleased to present concurrent solo exhibitions of drawings by Megan Greene and paintings by Lori Field. Both artists share an affinity for incorporating imagined and enigmatic subject matter in their fantastical work.

MEGAN GREENE's meticulously detailed drawings in white pencil and gouache on black paper depict a bricolage of biological and inanimate materials, comprised of braided hair, feathers, horns, ribbons, jewelry, medals of honor, and mechanical parts, etc., evoking the encyclopedic displays of relics found in Victorian cabinets of curiosities. Her near-symmetrical and totemic arrangements float in the center of each drawing. Much like an x-ray, only partial sections of the alluring phantasms fully emerge from the darkness. Her ghostly apparitions seem both curiously ornamental and deeply transcendental.

Greene lives and works in Brooklyn. She recently exhibited a series of drawings entitled Rappaccini's Daughter at Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, Buffalo.

LORI FIELD's encaustic paintings with collaged drawings portray hallucinatory visions derived from her flirtation with demonic realms, personal fairy tales, and the human world. The chimerical creatures that populate Field's mixed media works are at once familiar and mysterious. They are the realization of modern day myths that draw on a primitive lore. Her fanciful visual and cultural vocabulary is embellished with elements such as thread, lace, and insect wings - a mélange that inspires discovery and wonderment.

Field lives and works in Montclair, New Jersey. She has exhibited extensively and her work will be included in the upcoming retrospective exhibition of the Brodsky Center works on paper collection, on display at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Champagne Saturdays each week, 4:30 - 6:30.
