511 W 22nd St
Max Protetch Gallery is pleased to announce its first exhibition of works by young Beijing-based painted
Qiu Jiongjiong. This marks the first time that the artist has shown outside of China. By turns fantastic, gritty, cartoonish, and sensitive, these small and large paintings depict people, animals, and disjunctive landscapes. Also on view is a feature-length video by Qiu, Moon Palace, which documents life in and around his family's restaurant with humor and pathos.
Born in 1977 in Sichuan Province,
Qiu Jiongjiong has shown extensively in China, including exhibitions at He Xiangning Art Museum (Shenzhen), Bejing History Museum, Taipei National Palace Museum, Art Scene Warehouse (Shanghai), SOHO Shangdu (Beijing), and Bai Lian Tian Fu (Chengdu).
