Peer Gallery is pleased to present a selection of insightful and illusory images by the
American photographer,
Jeff Jacobson.
Throughout his photographic career, Jacobson has used his camera to navigate through
life and bring a sense of order to an increasingly chaotic world. Melting Point is an emotional
and visionary journey through times of personal tragedy and global discord. By
capturing the ephemeral, fleeting images that elude the consciousness of most of us,
Jacobson has constructed intimate visual anomalies which suggest transformation and
transcendence.
A dog in a New York City stairwell becomes a radiant chimera. An enormous, watchful eye
hovers over the city of Shanghai at night. Apparitions appear at fairgrounds, on the streets
and on the beach, as if messengers, sent to warn or comfort us.
In Jacobson’s poetic images, foreboding and trepidation pave the path to hope and revelation.
The 16 large-scale color images, exquisitely printed by Nash Editions, will be on view from
November 16 through January 6.
Jacobson's first solo exhibition at Peer consists of 16 large-scale pigment prints, exquisitely printed by Nash Editions at their state-of-the-art printmaking studio in Manhattan Beach, California.
The exhibition is accompanied by Jacobson's newly released monograph, Melting Point (Nazraeli Press, 2006). Signed copies are available at the gallery.
