Cocktail, a project by Cécile Paris, will be on view at
Michael Steinberg Fine Art from
September 7th through October 14th, 2006. For this installation, the French artist has created
five new works that collectively suggest a generalized murmur, a recollection of sounds no
longer being heard stimulated by visual cues.
The exhibition will feature two new videos, Fountain and Dazzling, and a wall installation
entitled Wings. Additionally, there is a series of photographs and a series of silkscreen prints,
Curtains and 50. As in a well-mixed cocktail, the disparate elements simultaneously retain their
individual flavors while creating a complex new entity.
Movement and hesitation, absence and presence, truth and fallacy, are all ingredients in
Cécile Paris' new Cocktail.
Cécile Paris lives and works in Paris, France. She is a graduate of L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts,
Nancy, France. Since 2003, Paris has exhibited widely in Europe and Asia, In 2004, Paris
was an artist-in-residence at New York City's Location One, and presented an exhibition
there entitled 3 Videos and 3 Songs.
