A Mandala, traditionally used in Buddhist and Hindu medita-
tion and ritual, is a geometric or pictorial design usually incorporating
a circle, representing universal truths. In Jungian psychology, the
mandala is a symbol representing the soul/self and harmony within
the individual.
MicroCoSM Gallery is proud to represent seven contemporary artists working with the form of the Mandala.
Erial creates digital paintings motivated by a belief in the heal-
ing power of art. Provoked by visions, dreams, and the natural world, Erial strives to create art on the computer that inspires and vibrates with the wonders of creation.
Allyson Grey paints tens of thousands of spectral squares that
create mandalas of chaos, order, and secret writing. Allyson is co-
founder of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors and
MicroCoSM Gallery.
Fredric Harwin has been described as "an author, a teacher, an artist and a scientist - but above all a man of vision; a visual communicator". The subject of an award winning documentary, Fred masterfully paints the human eye and is a recognized leader in the profession
of ocular prosthetics.
Dedicated to a vision of creating sacred art,
Paul Heussenstam
receives inspiration through painting, teaching "Art as a Spiritual
Path", and traveling around the globe. Paul has explored the ancient
tradition of the sacred mandalas and brought a multi-cultural wisdom to the genre.
Kris Kuksi,making cosmograms motivated by nature and psy-
chology, is skilled in the painting techniques of the old masters. In the
current Fantastic Realism/New Wave Surrealist movement, Kris'
paintings are recognized and highly respected.
Recently proclaimed a "master artist" by the Dutch government,
Pieter Weltevredeen gages the healing power of ancient yantra painting. The media of Pieter's eclectic body of work ranges from zodiac paintings on silk to book illustration.
Eileen "Rosie" Rose considers process central to the creation
of her colored pencil drawn mandalas. She co-authored the popular book/kit Create Your Own Sand Mandala; for Meditation, Healing and Prayer. Rosie is a certified facilitator of the Judith Cornell mandala technique and an art teacher for over thirty years.
Robert Nielsen's art, made of polymer clay, is inspired by
Tibetan art and other cultural traditions. His work emphasizes the
sublime spirituality of all beautiful forms and colors, exploring in depth
the composition of the mandala. Nielsen has exhibited at Bess Cutler
and Allan Stone Galleries in New York City.
Jesse Glawe combines symbolic ideas intointo unique pattern
visions inspired by spiritual and religious perceptions. Working with the most basic tools, ink pens and paper, Jesse debuts his art at MicroCoSM.
