MicroCoSM Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition of new works by New York artist
Oliver Vernon, opening February 15th through March 31st. Opening reception Thursday, February 15th, 6-8pm.
Each of
Oliver Vernon’s paintings is a uniquely painted world depicting the simultaneity of microcosmic and macrocosmic perspectives, and exploring themes of biology, physics, mythology and ancient visionary wisdom paths.
“The use of mandalic symmetry in my work comes from the study and practice of yoga and meditation, representing a devotional aspect of spiritual life”- says
Oliver Vernon.
The "Divine Flow" motif appears frequently in Vernon's paintings, representing the essence of fluid movement, a frictionless path, an organic enfoldment and a sweet rollercoaster ride through often-chaotic environments. Attuned to the eternal, mantric repetition of patterns in the work is an act of spiritual devotion, calling the viewer to awaken a perception of the infinite. Graphic examinations of the relationship between positive and negative space metaphorically signifies the symbiosis of opposing forces in the universe. Through a process of spontaneous composition emerging from the subconscious, subject matter stands for a visual language of universality in the human experience.
Vernon's murals and "live painting' performances have been commissioned in top nightclubs, restaurants and private residences in New York, California, Bangkok, Bali and India…
Born 1972 in New York the artist received a BFA from Parsons School of Design, in New York City.
