The word talisman, from ancient Greek, means: "initiate into the mysteries." Talismans are tools for magic, spiritual practice and healing used by priests and practitioners. Made from plants, animal parts, gemstones and minerals, these sacred amulets combine images of deities, astrology, sacred geometry, and symbols of the occult. Worldwide these tools, considered potent devices with transcendental purpose, hold power and protection against unwanted spirits or the evil eye.
MicroCoSM Gallery is proud to present the works of thirteen artists creating in this evolved visionary art form. The complexity and preciousness of each amulet inspires contemplation and represents the mystical aspect lost and found again within a new paradoxical age.
