THE FUNNIES, The
Nancy Margolis Gallery presents "Comic Worlds," a brightly colored show with work by artists
Jack Earl and
Jim Torok that plays upon characters of the 1940's such as Lil' Abner, Daisy Mae, and Archie. Mr. Earl, a sculptor, brings cartoons to life with painted ceramic busts, such as "Dick Tracy" (2007), right, while Mr. Torok creates humorous storyboards blending cultural messages with popular images and characters. Considered appealing to adults and children alike, the vibrant combination of sculpture and works on paper provides a fresh take on a past era. Through Saturday, June 28th. Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.,
