PaulaBarr chelsea will present "Defined Energy - The Essence of Abstraction”, a solo show featuring the work of
Marcia Odle-McNair. The artist will be present at the opening on Thursday, November 1, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Artist Alma Thomas said, "Man's highest aspirations come from nature. A world without color would seem dead. Color is life. Light is the mother of color."
Defined Energy - The essence of abstraction marks Odle-McNair’s return to the Paula Barr Chelsea Gallery with an important body of work, which celebrates her long interest in the art of abstraction. With this show,
PaulaBarr chelsea will take the visitors through a symphonic journey of colors and shapes, making the words of Alma Thomas come true: color is life.
Odle-McNair's breathtaking and dramatic paintings explore a unique and personal style. Rhythmic waves of color, directional forces in nature, formal aspects of transparencies and spatial ambiguities inspire this work.
Marcia Odle-McNair graduated from the prestigious Hunter College Program and was part of Hunter’s first MFA graduating class. She has taught studio art at Hunter College and St. Peter’s College in New Jersey. With the combination of studio experiences and exposure to major museums and representational format, she explores ideas in abstraction by developing a body of work on paper and canvas that displays the juxtaposition of form, color and transparencies in a unique presentation that stimulates the mind and senses. She has exhibited across the country, notably at the Cinque Gallery, Wilmer Jennings Gallery, the Corridor Gallery and the Studio Museum.
