Jae Hi Ahn is exhibiting her new works, Seascape and Dreaming Plant at the
Phoenix Gallery, 210 Eleventh Ave. @25th St, Suite 902, NY, NY 10001 March 28 – April 21, 2007. The Seascape series is the one she started to create right after her trip from Korea in 2006. Ahn was visiting Korea for her grandmother’s funeral during the winter of 2006. Her hometown, Dangjin, is located in West Coast with the scene of endless small mountains. Using vinyl tube, plastic cutout, wire, and pins, this Seascape is reminiscent of her home's landscape and grandmother’s tomb.
Jae Hi Ahn’s Dreaming Plant is her most recent sculpture. She constructed Dreaming Plant with vinyl tubes, plastic cutout, wire, and pins. She has been experimenting with these materials since 2006 and has created this large-scale sculpture, which consists of endless lines of repeated organic form.
