In RARE PLUS, Matt Wycoff’s drawings exquisitely depict a conceptual artist’s engagement with the subtler structures of daily life. In them we find Wycoff fascinated with the changing energy of his girlfriend’s face (100 Portraits of my girlfriend) and wanting to preserve everyone he meets (Everyone I met in my first six months of living in New York City). As in his previous work, the artist provides an uncommon sense of intimacy missing from most conceptual projects, and a level of beauty that is largely absent from various anthropological investigations.
