Parallel to [the Candida Höfer] show, the
Sonnabend Gallery will also present an exhibition of
Robert Morris “Blind Time” drawings, starting with a first series made in 1973 and ending with a series – Blind Time IV (Drawing with Davidson) – made in 1991.
Morris’s “Blind Time” drawings were made with closed eyes, rubbing graphite into the surface of the paper following pre-designated tasks the artist set about performing within pre-designated time frames.
In the “Blind Time IV (Drawing with Davidson)” series
Robert Morris uses quotations from texts by the philosopher Donald Davidson.
